Human Rights

Zimbabwe

John Bowis has taken the initiative with his colleagues from the EPP-ED Group at the European Parliament to propose and move a Resolution on Zimbabwe at the ACP Assembly (March 2002). It recognises the human rights abuses and politically motivated killing, mostly perpetrated by the Zanu-PF youth militia and asks the international community not to recognise President Mugabe as a legitimate head of state if he blatantly distorts the outcome of the forthcoming presidential election.
