Delegation to the Palestinian Legislative Authority John Bowis is on the delegation to the Palestinian legislative authority. The delegation oversees the EU's relations in this very troubled part of the world. John believes that the EU must engage with both the Palestinian and Israeli governments. One of the most important causes of violence in the area is poverty; if there is to be any hope for peace this issue must be addressed. Other important steps would include the dismantling of the West Bank barrier and the removal of illegal settlements. John has urged the Commission to publish the document compiled by the heads of mission in Jerusalem and Ramallah, who reported on East Jerusalem and whose summary was that Israel’s activities in Jerusalem are in violation both of its roadmap obligations and of international law. |
