John Bowis passed a European Parliament Resolution in May 2002 highlighting the terrorist activities of Laskar Jihad leader, Ja'far Umar Thalib, in the Maluku Islands who, on Friday 26 April 2002, was reported to call for the ignoring of the peace declaration and the beginning of civil war on the Islands, making a strong statement saying that Muslims will destroy all Christians in Ambon, during a mass meeting with thousands of Muslims present.
