Drugs in sport

Speaking in a debate in the European Parliament about an EU Strategy to combat the use of drugs in sport, John Bowis said that drugs distort and damage sport, the health of individual competitors and the example set to young people, who look up to sporting heroes as role models.

Arguing that sporting excellence can only flourish in an environment of fitness, skill, training and fair competition, John urged for education, prevention, testing and deterrence.
