Development Policy

The European Parliament's Committee on Development helps to guide and promote the EU's development and cooperation programmes with virtually all the world's developing countries. By means of the budgetary procedure, the European Parliament also directly influences spending on major development priorities such as food aid and rural development, environmental issues, assistance for refugees and displaced persons and support for the work of non-governmental organisations. The European Parliament also has oversight of humanitarian aid.
