In the 1999-2004 Parliament John Bowis was
Vice President of the European Parliament's Delegation for Relations
with Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan
and Mongolia. He followed developments in these countries
and their relations to the European Union.
The
following links relate to visits that John has made and to resolutions
passed by the European Parliament on the human rights situations
in Central Asian countries.
The
Central Asia Delegation, and indeed the Parliament as a whole, believe
it is important to highlight issues of concern, whilst encouraging
and congratulating the variable progress towards democracy and the
rule of law that is being made in the region.
