The
10th Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA) was held in Edinburgh.
John Bowis's activities included:
- asking the ACP Council about debt relief and avoiding making countries become bad credit risks in the future; asking the Commission about support for access to diabetes care and drugs;
- launching an LSE study on public private partnerships as a means of securing more research and development into neglected diseases;
- preparing a resolution on the impact of the EU's new chemicals regulatory regime ("REACH") on ACP countries, for instance, mining exports may be affected.
