ACP/EU
in Cape Town, South Africa, March 2002
The
4th session of the ACP/EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly was held
in Cape Town at the end of March 2002. John Bowis, as a full ACP
member, participated in the Assembly and moved a Resolution on elderly,
disabled and young people and one on Zimbabwe. He also challenged
the Council of Ministers about its commitment to maintain current
levels of development aid to ACP countries whilst it increases community
aid to Afghanistan. Click

ACP/EU
Resolution on Elderly, Aged and Young People
John
Bowis successfully negotiated for a Resolution to be taken to the
ACP Assembly in Cape Town in March 2002. It highlights that the
highest attainable standard of physical and mental health should
be a basic human right, with equal access to healthcare for all
and, amongst other things, calls on the European Union to work with
ACP countries in working towards and offering affordable health
care to all.
